Portraits

Project Background

While writing Waltham Rediscovered, researchers focused on the ethnic history of Waltham and interviewed people about their memories of the city. Memorabilia and photographs were donated or loaned by families to Waltham Rediscovered Inc. to complement the oral histories that made the book. These items, along with the administrative records created during the book's research and publication, have been part of the Waltham Public Library's special collections since 1996.

The portraits of several families featured in the collection now hang in the library. This online exhibition provides information about their lives in Waltham. Click on the name underneath a portrait to learn more about the family.
