The Yarush family was included in the Waltham Rediscovered project as part of the Lithuanian community. They lived on River St.

Annie Yarush was born in Russia (in an area that is now Lithuania) in 1862, and immigrated to the US around 1890. She married Anthony Yarush, who was born in 1862 in Kovno, Russia (now called Kaunas, Lithuania). Anthony emigrated in 1882, and moved with his family between Boston, Waltham, New Hampshire, and Stoughton, Massachusetts. The couple had 4 children:

  • Anna (born 1892)
  • Mary (born 1896)
  • John (born 1898)
  • Barbara/Bessie (born 1904)

Anna married Leon Gricus in Waltham in 1908, and the couple raised their family on Newton St. Both Anna and Leon worked for the Waltham Watch Company.

Mary married Michael Statkus in 1917. Michael worked as a knitter at a woolen mill in Stoughton, and Mary worked there with him for part of the year. She returned in Waltham in the winters to work at the cotton mill. They eventually settled in Waltham, living on Grove St.

Anthony and Anna settled in Stoughton with their two younger children, John and Bessie.
